Intel Core is a family of processors developed by Intel Corp., launching in January 2006.


Intel Core is a family of multi-core (excluding the Core Solo and Core 2 Solo) CPUs for midrange, embedded, workstation, high-end and enthusiast computer markets marketed by Intel Corp. The Intel Core launched in January 2006 as processors for mobile, consisting of single and dual-core models. It was succeded by the Core 2 series, which included both desktop and mobile models with up to four cores, and introduced x64 (64-bit) processors. The Core 2 series included of Core 2 Solo, Core 2 Duo, Core 2 Viiv, Core 2 vPro, Core 2 Quad, and the Core 2 Extreme. Since 2008, Intel began introducing the Core i3 (2010), Core i5 (2009), Core i7 (2008), and Core i9 (2017) processors. Since 2024, they dropped the "i" in the processor names. (example: Intel Core i3 = Intel Core 3, Intel Core i5 = Intel Core 5, Intel Core i7 = Intel Core 7, Intel Core i9 = Intel Core 9).
